The Lagos State government has repeatedly warned residents against erecting structures on drainage channels and other setbacks, as this obstructs water flow and contributes to flooding during heavy rainfall. Despite these warnings, some individuals have disregarded the directives, leading to the demolition of their properties to allow for proper drainage.
In the past, several buildings constructed on drainage paths have been brought down by the state authorities to mitigate the risk of flooding and its associated dangers to lives and property.
The post on the official Facebook page of Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Lagos State, highlights the state government’s efforts to address flooding issues by clearing obstructions from drainage channels.
