Eko Hot Blog reports that Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 01, has commended the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for investing in new boats to boost water transportation in the state.
He spoke during the week when he accompanied the governor to launch 15 new locally manufactured boats (Omi-Bus).
The event took place at the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) Jetty in the Badore area of Lagos.
According to a statement issued by Temitope’s office on Friday, the lawmaker, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Transportation, stated that the boat launch is part of the governor’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for Lagosians.
He noted that Sanwo-Olu has once again demonstrated his passion for a greater Lagos with the launch of the state-of-the-art ferries that are locally manufactured.
“This is what Lagosians want. This is what the government also wants,” Temitope said.
“It is a modern transport system that will provide effective mass transit for the people, reducing the usage of cars on the road and creating interconnectivity with the waterways, the rails, and the roads.”
Others at the event were Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Obafemi Hamzat; the Commissioner for Transportation, Seun Osiyemi; Chairman, House Committee on Infrastructure, Hon Gbolahan Yishawu; the General Manager, LASWA, Mr Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, and other critical stakeholders in the transport sector.
