Lagos Lawmakers Pass Vote Of Confidence In Speaker Obasa

Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday, passed a unanimous vote of confidence in Speaker Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, expressing their continued satisfaction with his leadership of the House.

The motion of confidence coincided with Obasa’s 52nd birthday, adding a celebratory note to the session.

During the plenary, Majority Leader Noheem Adams moved the motion, acknowledging Obasa’s outstanding leadership, particularly in the 10th Assembly.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that he emphasized that every decision made by the Speaker had been with the full consent of his colleagues, who regularly engage in consultations to ensure collective input on important matters.

“I rise this afternoon to move a motion that a vote of confidence be passed on the Rt. Hon. (Dr) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa to continue the good work that he has always done, especially in this 10th Assembly,” Adams said. The motion was seconded by Hon. Sa’ad Olumoh (Ajeromi-Ifelodun I), after extensive consultation with fellow lawmakers.

Deputy Majority Leader Adedamola Richard Kasunmu also spoke in support of the motion, asserting that the lawmakers had absolute confidence in Obasa’s leadership. “There is no better way to show this than to pass a vote of confidence on the Speaker,” he stated.

The vote of confidence was further underscored by heartfelt birthday tributes from various lawmakers. Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu (Eti-Osa 2) celebrated Obasa’s impactful leadership, while also wishing him a happy birthday on behalf of his constituents.

Hon. Nureni Akinsanya praised Obasa for his unwavering loyalty to his beliefs, regardless of circumstances. He prayed for continued wisdom and blessings for the Speaker and his family.

Other lawmakers, including Hon. Aro Moshood, also extended their warm birthday wishes to Obasa, highlighting his instrumental role in shaping Lagos and Nigeria, as well as his dedication to public service.

The House marked the occasion by showcasing a clip of Speaker Obasa’s significant contributions to key laws passed in the Assembly during his tenure.
