Lagos LG Chair Calls For Women Participation In Politics
The Chairman, Badagry-West Local Council Development Area, Hon. Joseph Gbenu, on Thursday urged women in the area to participate fully in politics.
Gbenu gave the advice during the Badagry-West Women Forum organised by the council to sensitise the people to the upcoming Lagos State Local Government election.

The chairman said the purpose of the forum was to sensitise the women in Badagry communities to the upcoming council election.

“Women have to participate in politics not only by voting but by participating in the process which includes contesting the election.
“When one look at the recent election, you discovered that majority of the voters are women.
“This time around, women should also contest the election and win because they carry over 70 per cent of the voters,” he said.
The chairman said that more than 100 women who had formed the APC campaign group would receive palliatives from him.
He added that other women would receive N100,000 each by September for mobilisation.
Mrs Arinola Ajose, the wife of Dr Sunny Ajose, the APC Badagry Apex leader, urged women to take active part in the coming election.
Ajose who was the mother of the day advised women to hold onto their families.
Mr Abu Oriyomi, an ex-officio, APC Lagos State Chapter, said women in other parts of the country had been active in politics since 1961.
Oriyomi urged the women in Badagry not to be discouraged by the population of men in active politics in the town.
Hon. Joseph Agoro, former Secretary, Badagry-West LCDA, commended the council chairman for organising the forum to enlighten women in the area.
Ms Damilola James, the council Supervisor for Agriculture, said the APC was beginning to link more women to politics in Lagos.
James, who is contesting for the post of chairman in the coming council election, said that there would be a change in political representation in 2025.

Mrs Sesi Ogungbe, the Council Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, said the programme would encourage more women to join politics in Badagry.
Ogungbe who is also contesting for chairman on the platform of the APC commended the chairman for organising the programme.
In her remarks, Mrs Esther Gbenu, the Chairperson of the day, urged women to take the advantage of the forum to join politics and participate in the affairs of the town.
Gbenu said that more women in the communities were joining forces to work for the progress of the APC in the coming election.
She said the success of the forum had indicated victory for APC in the coming council election and others.
Gbenu thanked women in different Badagry communities for coming out in large number for the programme.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that more than 100 women were given palliatives in form of rice, beans, groundnut oils and cash of N20,000 by the chairman at the end of the forum.
