The Alawe of Ikate Kingdom in Lagos State, Chief Murtala Adedoyin Elegushi, is dead.
He was reported to have died in the early hours of Tuesday in his sleep.
A statement by the Elegushi Royal family said he was 74.
The family said: Chief Muritala Elegushi will be remembered for his deep knowledge of the history of Ikate-Elegushi, Eti-Osa and Lagos State, which helped in correcting many distortions and facilitated the resolution of many disputes.
“A traditional and community leader, he is survived by wives, children, grand children and an extended royal family.”
