The Lagos State Government has issued a stern warning about a looming building collapse at the Mopol 20 Barracks in Ikeja.
The state’s emergency management agency, LASEMA, is preparing to initiate an urgent evacuation of the old block 3 section of the barracks due to the deteriorating structural integrity.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to a statement released by the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, a recent assessment revealed that parts of the building were in a highly precarious state. The agency has determined that both the building and adjacent structures pose a significant risk to safety and must be evacuated immediately.
To prevent any loss of life or property, LASEMA will be conducting a controlled demolition of the affected building.
The agency has assured the public that the operation will be carried out under the watchful eye of the Lagos State government and with utmost care.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, previously announced plans for a comprehensive renovation of police barracks in Lagos, including Mopol 20.
The renovation project, which is being undertaken in partnership with the state government, aims to modernize and improve the living conditions for police personnel.
While the government is taking proactive steps to address the situation, residents are urged to remain calm and avoid spreading misinformation. LASEMA has assured the public that the situation is being closely monitored and managed.
