During the presentation, the NCWS said she was being awarded for her service to humanity.
In an interview with Eko Hot Blog, she said she has been a member of the NCWS for decades, thanking the council for the special recognition.
“I feel very very elated. I am very proud to be one of the members of this association. When I was the president of this association, I did a lot of programmes and many people really knew me by my impactful initiatives,” she told our correspondent.
Princess Disu advised young women to join the NCWS, saying it’s not an association meant for only old women.
“They [young women] will gain a lot from joining NCWS. The council is not only in Lagos State. It is available in all 36 states (and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja), including all 774 local government areas in Nigeria,” she said.
The former NCWS, Lagos chapter, thanked members of the council in the state, including the newly inaugurated president, Alhaja Memunat Ajao, for their support.
Princess Disu is also the mother of Commissioner of Police (CP) Tunji Disu, the Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
The NCWS also presented awards of excellence to the first ladies of Lagos State and Nigeria, Mrs Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu and Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, respectively.
