Eko Hot Blog reports that the newly appointed Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide has said that transparency in the built sector and zero tolerance for building collapse would be his watchwords.
He made this known after he assumed office amidst high expectations from stakeholders of the ministry.

Lagos has been plagued by incessant cases of building collapse in recent months despite the state government’s efforts to get the situation under control.
Arriving at the ministry together with the Special Adviser, e-GIS and Urban Planning, Dr. Olajide Babatunde after the swearing-in ceremony by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the new commissioner promised to build on previous successes and introduce more progressive initiatives to further revolutionise the sector while working effectively with all stakeholders.
The Special Adviser, e-GIS and Urban Planning, Dr. Olajide Babatunde, who returned to his former post, called for continued cooperation and teamwork.
The duo were received by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Oluwole Sotire; Surveyor-General, Lagos State, Surv. Ayokunu Adeshina; General Managers of Agencies of the Ministry and Senior management staff of the Ministry.
Olumide and Babatunde were two of the 37 commissioners and special advisers Sanwo-Olu swore into office on Wednesday.
The governor called on the new cabinet members to ensure the delivery of the administration’s signature THEMES+ developmental agenda to millions of Lagos residents.
Sanwo-Olu, who also charged the cabinet members to reflect excellence in the discharge of their duties, expressed optimism on a better society, saying, “I see a bigger Lagos rising.”
He stressed that his administration must deliver on its promises of a greater Lagos.
