Lagos Police Command has confirm Ogbuagu’s rescue just as it gave update on AVM Ladi Smith’s abduction.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of a resident of the state, identified as Kingsley Ogbuagu, who was earlier abducted by unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
It was gathered that the victim was kidnapped at the Roman Catholic Church of Visitation in FESTAC Town, Lagos on Sunday.
However, the rescue of Ogbuagu was made known via a statement by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu.
“The victim (Ogbuagu) kidnapped on Sunday 26th September 2021 has been rescued and reunited with his family,” he stated.
Ajisebutu, while speaking on the rising abductions in Lagos, assured that the Command is working to ensure the safety of lives and property in the state.
The police spokesperson further noted that efforts have been intensified in the search for Retired Air Vice Marshal Ladi Smith, who was abducted on Tuesday in Ajah, and an RCCG Pastor kidnapped at Dopemu-Agege.
The police spokesperson added that the police operatives are “being tactical so as not to jeopardize the lives of the AVM and the pastor” just as he assured that the perpetrators of the abductions would be apprehended.
He further stated that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered field commanders, tactical unit commanders, uniformed and plain-clothed officers to intensify policing, vehicular patrol and intelligence-driven raids of all flashpoints and blackspots to secure the release of the victims.
EKOHOTBLOG recalls that Air Vice Marshal Ladi Smith (retd.), who is a cousin to a former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and current Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Musiliu Smith, was abducted by the gunmen in the Ajah area of Lagos State on Monday.
It was further learnt that the retired general, who is currently the Chairman of Double Wealth Ventures Limited – a dredging and engineering firm – was supervising work on a site in the Ajah area when the masked gunmen invaded the place, shot sporadically, and whisked the retired general away in a waiting speedboat and sped away.
According to an SMS voice note shared by his driver, Corporal Odiji, the retired Air Vice Marshal engaged in a struggle with the gunmen before he was subdued.
