Lagos Police Nab Five Members Of Armed Robbery Gang, Recover Stolen Properties

Eko Hot Blog reports that men of the Lagos State Police Command attached to Isashi Police Anti-Crime team, on Sunday, nabbed five members of a seven-man gang allegedly notorious for robbing some Lagos residents of their valuables.

The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, announced the development in a statement on Sunday.

Hundeyin revealed that the syndicate was in three cars and were robbing residents of the Ayajo Okemoro area, off Ogundipe road, at the Isashi Mine area of the state when they were arrested.

The suspects, Tosin Emmanuel, 23, Emmanuel Raphel 20, Precious Ikechukwu, 20, Uchenna Thomas 17, and Godspower Samuel 19, were arrested around 5.15 am.

 

“Around 5.15 am, the Isashi Police Division received a phone call that some hoodlums, numbering about seven in three cars, were robbing residents of Ayajo Okemoro area, off Ogundipe road, Isashi Mine area of Lagos State,” he said.

“The DPO quickly sent out some detectives of the Anti-Crime Unit to the scene where five of the syndicate were arrested but two others escaped.”

Hundeyin stated that a member of the gang, identified as Owonikoko, escaped in a Lexus SUV with a registration number FST 692 HU X, while a Lexus Saloon car with dealer number 02-6507 DLD was recovered in the cause of the arrest.

“One Owonikoko, surname unknown escaped in the third vehicle, one Lexus SUV with a registration number FST 692 HU X, while a Lexus Saloon car with dealer number 02-6507DLD was recovered from the suspects during interrogation.”

“It was further disclosed that when the suspects’ houses were searched, the following items were recovered; three HP laptops, one Dell laptop, one iPhone 11 PRO MAX, one iPhone 13, one Android phone and a pot of charms.”

Hundeyin further stated that the gang had used guns to rob some passers-by at Iba road on June 26, 2023, and three others of their cars and valuables on July 20 at Akesan along Igando.

“At the station, one Mustapha of Iba came and identified the suspects to be the gang that trailed him from Iba Road on June 26, 2023, shot him in the leg and robbed him of his Camry Saloon car and laptops,” he said.

“Also, around 2 pm of the same date, one Lateef and two others came to the station and identified the gang to have robbed them on July 20 at Akesan along Igando, Iba Road, and collected their Lexus 330 SUV with registration number LND 492 HR at gunpoint, an iPhone 12 PRO MAX, iPhone 5 and an HP laptop.

“The complainants identified one of the HP laptops recovered from the suspects’ houses to be theirs.”

The police spokesperson added that the suspects will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, and would be charged to court as soon as the investigation was completed.
