Lagos Police Nab Two Robbery Suspects, Recover Stolen Items After Distress Call
Eko Hot Blog reports that operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested two robbery suspects: Praise Ebube ‘m’ aged 25, a phone accessories seller in Obalende, Lagos State, and Ogbonna Michael ‘m’ aged 21, a factory worker at Billings Way, Oregun, Lagos
The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed the development in a statement on Wednesday.
The RRS is a unit under the Lagos Police Command.
Hundeyin disclosed that members the squad nabbed the robbery suspects while responding to a distress call that some persons had snatched a lady’s phone and handbag on Tuesday night.
The police spokesperson also revealed that Ebube and Michael were arrested at about 8:30pm on Tuesday and the victim’s belongings were recovered from them as they were attempting to flee the scene.
“Another victim (name withheld) has identified one of the suspects, Praise Ebube, as having robbed him of a Vivo mobile phone worth N105,000,00 at knifepoint at about 10pm in the same area on the 24th January, 2024,” he said.
Hundeyin further revealed that the suspects have given confessional statements while the Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, has directed the RRS Commander, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi to arraign them suspects at the conclusion of investigations.
In a related development, police officers apprehended three men: Babatunde Murutu, Segun Lawal and Adebayo Iyanu, Wednesday midnight after a stop and search routine revealed that they had cables, screwdrivers and scissors in their bags.
Hundeyin said further interrogation/investigation revealed that the suspects had just stolen the cables from a building in the neighborhood.
“STOP & SEARCH: At about 3:20am, officers of Ojodu Division on midnight patrol stopped three men, Babatunde Murutu, Segun Lawal and Adebayo Iyanu, to search the contents of their bags and found cables, screwdrivers and scissors,” the police spokesperson in Lagos wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter on Wednesday.
“Further interrogation/investigation revealed that they had just stolen the cables from a building in the neighborhood.
“Suspects are to be arraigned at the concision of investigation.”
