Lagos Rakes In ₦267bn In IGR Ahead Of FCT, Rivers, Others

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Lagos State recorded the highest Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) with ₦267bn, according to a report published by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). 

It was followed by the FCT with ₦69bn and Rivers, ₦57bn. Yobe State had the least amount with ₦4bn; Taraba, ₦4.7bn; Gombe, ₦5.4bn.

The 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory generated ₦849.123bn as IGR in 2021 compared to ₦612.87bn in 2020.

According to the report, ₦398 billion was generated in the first quarter of 2021 and ₦450bn in the second quarter, making a positive growth of 13.21 percent.

The report categorized the IGRs into five subheads of: PAYE, Direct Assessment, Road Taxes, Other Taxes and revenue from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

The IGR of other states within the period under review were Abia, ₦7.5bn; Adamawa, ₦6bn; Akwa Ibom, ₦18bn; Anambra, ₦12.7bn; Bauchi, ₦9.4bn; Bayelsa, ₦6.4bn; Benue, ₦6.7bn; Borno, ₦9.8bn; Cross River, ₦14.7; Delta, ₦41.9bn; Ebonyi, ₦7.7bn; Edo, ₦17.6bn; Ekiti, ₦6.5Bbn; Enugu, ₦14.1bn; Imo, ₦9.9bn; Jigawa, ₦9.3bn; Kaduna, ₦26.4bn and Kano, ₦15bn.

Others were Katsina, ₦7.4bn; Kebbi, ₦7.3bn; Kogi, ₦9.6bn; Kwara, ₦15.9bn; Nasarawa, ₦9.5bn; Niger, ₦7.9bn; Ogun, ₦54bn; Ondo, ₦17.9bn; Osun, ₦13.6bn; Oyo, ₦25.9bn; Plateau, ₦14.4bn; Sokoto, ₦8.4bn and Zamfara, ₦8.4bn.

It added that Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) contributed the highest amount to the states with ₦488bn, followed by revenue from MDAs, ₦173bn with Road Tax contributing the lowest with ₦16bn.
