Lagos Set To Implement New Model Colleges Revised Boarding School Fees

  • Lagos Government is set to implement new model colleges revised boarding school fees.

EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Lagos State Ministry of Education will commence the implementation of the experimental fee regime as agreed during a meeting of officials of the Ministry of Education, parents, and lawmakers recently.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, made this known in a chat that the sum of 35,000 as agreed will be paid by all model colleges and upgraded school students for the next 2 terms.

She reiterated that no other fees will be charged nor will any intervention be imposed on parents within this period to avoid overburdening the parents and allow for a true reflection of the workability of the new boarding school fee.

According to her, the menu list of the students will also be reviewed and standardized in terms of necessary nutrition, while schools are also expected to incorporate available local menu and seasonal foods.

The commissioner also declared that representatives of the parent’s body will be incorporated into the boarding house committee to ensure inclusive supervision.

Adefisayo added that the resumption of students in model colleges and upgraded schools will commence on September 19, 2021, with SS2 students while new JS 1 students and other returning students will follow on the 2nd and 9th of October respectively.

The commissioner further appreciated the understanding of parents and assured all stakeholders of continuous support of the Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration for quality education.
