Lagos Set To Introduce Standard Operating Procedures To Reduce Building Collapse
As part of efforts to reduce building collapse in Lagos State, the Lagos State Executive Council have started deliberations on the introduction of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to standardise activities of all MDAs of Government.
Special Adviser to Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Aramide Adeyoye, disclosed this at the 28th Lagos Builders Conference .
She noted that it was regrettable that the built industry has witnessed public condemnation because of the incessant building collapse occasioned by the use of substandard materials & failure of practitioners to imbibe appropriate procurement methods.
Adeyoye added that usage of the right procurement methods in building production help the client to ensure and promote sustainable developments by utilising available resources in the most efficient, transparent and ethical manner.
Engr. Adeyoye requested collaboration with the Lagos State Government to nip building collapse in the bud by entrenching standardised methods, weeding out quacks and reporting illegal development.
