EKO HOT BLOG reports that as Lagos State voters head to the polls to decide their next governor, a prominent member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Femi Fani-Kayode, has voiced his confidence that the state will not fall into the hands of terrorists and demon worshippers.
In a tweet, Fani-Kayode expressed his conviction that incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will be re-elected, describing him as a “child of light”.
Fani-Kayode warned that Lagos must not be allowed to fall into the hands of those seeking to alter its identity or remove its traditional rulers. He also decried the invocation of deities, the worship of demons, and the practice of making blood sacrifices to idols, calling for acknowledgement of the “one true God who alone rules in the affairs of men”.
The APC chieftain’s tweet is seen as an endorsement of Sanwo-Olu’s candidacy and a rallying call for Lagosians to support his re-election bid. Sanwo-Olu, who has been in office for four years, faces a number of challengers in the governorship race, including Jimi Agbaje of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Babatunde Gbadamosi of the Action Democratic Party (ADP).
The election in Lagos is one of several gubernatorial polls taking place across Nigeria on March 18, 2023. The outcome of the vote is expected to have significant implications for the political landscape of Nigeria’s commercial capital and largest city.
“This is the state that I love with all my heart and that I lived and grew up in. She is MY Lagos!” he wrote.
