Lagos State Expresses Readiness To Celebrate World Tourism Day With Other Global Communities

- The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture has expressed the State Government’s readiness to celebrate 2020 World Tourism Day.

The Commissioner stated this when some stakeholders in Tourism sector visited her in her office.

In their reaction, the group thanked the Commissioner for the warm welcome and stated that WTD is remarkable to Nigeria because the motion for its establishment was moved by a Nigerian.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Uzamat Akiribile-Yusuf has stated that the State Government has already perfected plans to join other tourism stakeholders across the globe to mark the Year 2020 World Tourism Day (WTD) coming up on Sunday 27 September, 2020.
The Commissioner disclosed this when a team of tourists experts paid her a courtesy visit in her office on Friday 11 September, 2020.
The Commissioner intimated the visiting team that all the five divisions of the state would be involved in the celebrations of Year 2020 World Tourism Day as the State is targeting grassroots participation, assuring that Tourism stakeholders would equally be carried along in the planned activities.

Reacting on behalf of the delegation, Ambassador Ikechi Uko expressed profound appreciation to the Commissioner for giving them a warm welcome and stated that the purpose of the visit was to acquaint the Ministry with its planned activities for the forthcoming WTD celebrations.
He stressed that the World Tourism Day is important to the Nation as it was a Nigerian, Late Mr Ignatius Atigbi, who moved the motion to make September, 27 the World Tourism Day.
