Lagos State Gov., Sanwo-Olu Presents Staff Of Office To New Alara Of Ilara, Oba Ogunsanwo Folarin [Photos]

The Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sunday presented the staff of office to new Alara of Ilara, Oba Ogunsanwo Folarin.

You recall that EkoHotBlog had reported how the newly installed king observed the 3-day ceremonial, cultural and traditional rites that preceded the enthronement of a new king.

The presentation of staff of office is an integral part of the coronation that signifies government imprimatur — after the performance of essential traditional rites by kingmakers — of the new King ascension to the throne, without which enthronement of a king cannot be said to be complete

Before the presentation of staff, a minute silence was observed in honour of chief Lanre Rasak, an illustrious son of Epe and a politician of repute, who died yesterday.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and Balogun of Epe died after brief illness at reddington hospital in Lagos.

Presenting staff of office, the governor congratulated Oba Ogunsanwo on his ascension to the throne of his forebears.

The governor charged the monarch to uphold the creeds and customs on top which the traditional stool is built. He said he believed that his enthronement would engender wave of development for Ilara and herald a season which opportunities and prospects are abound for the people, especially youths, of Ilara.

He reiterated the commitment of his administration to the development of Epe, adding that the town is very much in the plans of state government and that resources will be channelled towards ensuring that the town’s economic and social  potentials are fully realised

Speaking after receiving the staff, Oba Ogunsanwo expressed his gratitude to the governor.

He promised to abide by the customs and traditions land. He added that the his reign will bring hope, joy and peace to Ilara, adding that, under him, a new Ilara will emerge.

He averred that he would use of his position to bring much needed development to Ilara.

Also present at the event were other top cabinet members of governor Sanwo-Olu, deputy governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat; Head of service, Hakeem Mûri Okunola; Chief Of Staff, Tayo Ayinde; Commissioner for Justice; Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo(SAN).

The deputy governor, Obafemi Hamzat, beaming with a great deal of poise and elation for the new king, said aside from the presentation of staff of office to the new monarch, the high power government delegation also came to felicitate monarch.

Hamzat added that the ascension of oba Ogunsanwo to the throne is expected to herald a new season of economic prosperity and social re-engineering Ilara town.

In his opening remarks,chairman Eredo local government development council, honourable Adeniyi Saliu, highlighted the significance of the event when he described it as an iconic moment in the history of the town.

He lauded the governor for his giant strides and effort in repositioning the state.

In his remarks, attorney general for the state, Onigbanjo noted that Oba Ogunsanwo is not only bringing his charismatic and cerebral disposition to the throne, but, also accompanying his enthronement, are his wealth of knowledge and sterling reputation from the public and private sector, which would be vital in bringing about a fresh wave of development for the Ilara enclave and hope for its people, especially the youths..

For his part, Lawmaker representing Epe at house of representatives, Wale Raji, described the King as a character who has passion for the advancement of humanity cause. He noted that the king has, on many occasions, exhibited his altruistic disposition.

He said the emergence of Oba Ogunsanwo as new Alara is an epoch moment in the history of kingdom.

He promised to use his legislative acumen to help push the drive of the monarch for actualisation of new Ilara that works for all and sundry.

Oba Ogunsanwo rose to the occasion in the bleakest of times by ameliorating the suffering of the people by providing them with succour and respite through relief items.
