Eko Hot Blog reports that in a commendable move towards prioritizing the welfare of its retirees, the Lagos State Government, under the leadership of Governor Sanwo Olu, presented a total sum of N3.1 billion to 1,013 retirees during the 103rd Batch Retirement Bond Certificate Presentation ceremony.
This event, held today, served as a recognition of the retirees’ dedicated service to the state.
“Today, we celebrate the dedication of our retirees who have been the backbone of Lagos State’s success,” remarked Governor Sanwo Olu, expressing his honor in presenting the substantial amount to the retirees, acknowledging their unwavering commitment that has contributed to positioning Lagos State as a leader across various indices in Nigeria.
He personally engaged with the jubilant retirees, emphasizing the crucial role they played in upholding the state’s standing.
The N3.1 billion disbursed today adds to the retirees’ monthly contributions, which have been consistently remitted into their respective Retirement Savings Accounts (RSAs) with Pension Fund Administrators.
This financial gesture underscores the administration’s steadfast dedication to the well-being and welfare of retirees.
“The disbursement of N3.1 billion is a testament to our commitment to the welfare of those who have served the state diligently,” Governor Sanwo Olu highlighted, underscoring the administration’s remarkable track record.
Since its inception, a total of N56,551,761,900.88 has been disbursed into the RSAs of 16,026 retirees in various sectors, including Mainstream, Local Government, State Universal Basic Board (SUBEB), Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), and other state government parastatals.
Governor Sanwo Olu expressed gratitude to the Y2024 Africa Brand Awards for recognizing the state’s gold standard in employee welfare.
Looking ahead, he announced plans to disburse an additional N4 billion next month, reaffirming Lagos State’s position as a frontrunner in pension benefits administration.
“As we move towards a ‘Pay As You Go’ model, inclusion and elevation remain central to our open government philosophy,” Governor Sanwo Olu assured.
Commending the Lagos State Pension Commission for its dedication and professionalism, he extended his congratulations once again to the retirees.
“Your hard work has not gone unnoticed,” he emphasized, highlighting the administration’s commitment to an inclusive and elevating governance model.
“Kudos to the Lagos State Pension Commission for their unwavering dedication and professionalism,” Governor Sanwo Olu added in recognition of the pivotal role played by the commission in ensuring the success of the pension disbursement.
“Congratulations to the retirees. Your hard work has been the driving force behind our achievements,” Governor Sanwo Olu concluded, expressing appreciation for the retirees’ tireless efforts.
