Lagos State Government To Boost Standard Of Living Through Agriculture

Lagos State government, says it will ensure Substantial Living And Eradication of Unemployment Through Agricultural Practice.

The state governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made this known in Ikeja, while speaking on agriculture. According to Mr Sanwo-Olu,
to conquer and eliminate poverty in Lagos State, the government will now be committed to making agricultural practice a priority because, agriculture contributes impeccably to economic Development.

The state Governor said that 297-hectare Erstwhile Songhai food Production Centre which, was initially owned by the state government in 2012 for agricultural protects, now Food Production Centre in Avia, Badagry will now be a land of agricultural practice which will reduce unemployment in the state.

The governor said that for decades, agriculture has been associated with the production of essential food crops. At present, agriculture is above and beyond farming, it includes forestry, dairy, fruit cultivation, poultry, beekeeping, mushroom, arbitrary, etc. Today, processing, marketing, and distribution of crops and livestock products, are all acknowledged as part of current agriculture.

He furthermore said”Agriculture plays a critical role in the entire life of a given economy. Agriculture is the backbone of the economic system of a given country, hence to providing food and raw material, agriculture also provides employment opportunities to a very large percentage of the population. I will focus my gaze on local food productions and I’m sure that the needs of people in the state will be met without delay. “For as it all seems and occur, Lagos is a very big state which needs redemption from poverty and unemployment, it can solely he fought with agricultural practice”, he said

He explained that agricultural practice in the state would meet a load of needs in the state by providing food security, source of savings, economic development, foreign exchange resources, great employment opportunities, significance in transport, marketable surplus, source of raw material, supply of food as well as fodder, significance in the international, contribution to national revenue and lot more.
