The Lagos State Government has begun the construction of a one-kilometer drainage system within the premises of Ikorodu Fish Farm Estate in Odoguyan to stop any flood rise and its effect.
The State Acting Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms Abiola Olusanya, disclosed this while inspecting the farm estate. Ms Olusanya said the construction of the drainage system would improve the productivity of the farm estate and as well, improve fish productions.
She explained that crop rates would be maximised and that water bodies would be prevented by the drainage system.

“Before, we heard that the whole of Odonguyan was flooded, the water from the road came down to the estate and affected crop and fish productions. We will make sure we stop these effects and when the drainage system is completed, I’m sure that there would be an incredible increase in the production of potential fishes” she said.
She added that the ministry has also constructed a water plants within the Ikorodu fish farm estate in order to supply water to the 194 ploys, to complete the existing way water scheme in Lagos.
