Lagos State Launches EKO Learners’ Support Programme to Boost WAEC and NECO Performance

Eko Hot Blog reports that Jamiu Alli-Balogun, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, emphasized the importance of education as a key driver of development and highlighted the state’s dedication to providing students with the necessary resources for academic success.

The programme was officially launched on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025 at the Education Resource Centre in Lagos. Alli-Balogun explained that the EKO Learners’ Support Programme is a comprehensive initiative aimed at helping WAEC and NECO candidates excel in their external examinations.

“This initiative has been designed to broadcast a head-start of 320 lessons in 10 different subjects; English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Government, History, Literature-in-English and Yoruba on Lagos Television and Yoruba on Lagos Television and other social platforms, with proficient teachers, who were recruited painstakingly through thorough and rigorous screening.

“The programme is scheduled for 26 weeks in the period leading up to the start of these public examinations with a duration of 30 minutes per episode and each episode archived for easy access by learners and teachers,” the Commissioner stated.
