One-day Lagos governor seeks improved teachers’ welfare
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday received the one-day governor, Miss Jemimah Marcus (17), in his office.
Miss Marcus, who won the 2020 Spelling Bee competition, is a pupil of Angus Memorial Senior Secondary School, Shomolu.
The first runner-up is Ajose Sotin of Topo Senior Grammar School, Badagry.
The second runner-up Rhema Edeh of Nawair-ud-Deen Senior High School, Oyingbo
The one-day governor described Sanwo-Olu as “a transformative leader who has empathy for Lagosians”, adding that projects such as the Red and Blue Rail Line, Imota Rice Mill, Lekki regional roads, would transform Lagos for the best.
“Governor Sanwo-Olu has the best team,” she added.
She, however, asked Governor Sanwo-Olu to consider greater welfare for teachers in public schools, especially their transportation, and particularly asked for a school bus for her school.
The one-day governor also reiterated the need for public schools to be fitted with digital devices so pupils can be ahead technology-wise.
Miss Marcus also pleaded for financial assistance to boost her father’s business and decent accommodation for her family.
Sanwo-Olu described the process as a way of building future leaders and helping them understand the process and essence of governance.
He also promised that requests and observations made by Miss Marcus would be worked on, and her parents assisted.
