In an effort to support local businesses and entrepreneurs, the Lagos State Government has announced its commitment to hosting the 2025 Lagos Tourism NBC Trade Fair, in partnership with Naija Brand Chick and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Eko Hot Blog reports.
The event, scheduled to take place at Balmoral Hall in the Federal Palace Hotel from April 11th to 13th, is expected to attract over 220 vendors and 75,000 visitors.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Idris Aregbe, has stated that the fair aims to leverage entertainment to drive trade and contribute to the growth of local businesses.
With an anticipated ₦5 billion in sales, the Lagos Tourism NBC Trade Fair is poised to become Nigeria’s largest trade and commerce gathering, further solidifying the state’s position as a hub for entrepreneurship and innovation.
Aregbe emphasized the significance of tourism in boosting the local economy, saying:
“The essence of tourism lies in buying, selling, and landscape development while boosting the local economy and fostering cultural exchange.
“Our administration is committed to job creation, poverty reduction, SME growth, and bridging inequality, and we aim to achieve these goals through initiatives like this.
“This edition is set to be bigger and better, as we have worked tirelessly to refine the experience and maximize impact.
“Beyond the physical marketplace, we are also introducing an Online Deals Spot to expand accessibility.”
He acknowledged the city’s supportive environment for businesses and entrepreneurs, stating that the Lagos State Government is actively working to ensure the trade fair offers a cost-effective and intelligent shopping experience for visitors from around the world.
Additionally, she hinted at potential discounts for buyers attending the event.
Nelly Agbogu, the Chief Executive Officer of Naija Brand Chick, expressed her excitement for the upcoming 2025 Lagos Tourism NBC Trade Fair.
She emphasized the crucial role Lagos plays as a commercial hub and the positive impact it has had on the success of her trade exhibitions.
“Lagos provides the perfect landscape for business growth, and this fair is proof that dreams can be actualized with the right support.
“We are excited to create another groundbreaking event that empowers SMEs and transforms lives. Thanks to the Lagos State Government for its intentional commitment to the growth and development of small businesses.
“The Lagos Tourism NBC Trade Fair is raising the bar even higher, with a strong focus on increasing sales, fostering deeper connections between vendors and customers, and solidifying its reputation as a must-attend business event in Nigeria.”
She said the event organizers will introduce various new elements such as business masterclasses, interactive workshops, and financial inclusion initiatives aimed at providing vendors with valuable resources, including access to grants and support.
Apart from its business-focused offerings, the event will also showcase a range of entertainment attractions, such as appearances by influencers and celebrities, cultural and live music performances, dance showcases, as well as exciting giveaways and raffle draws.
These additions are designed to drive sales and increase visibility for participating brands.
Looking back at the 2024 edition of the NBC Trade Fair, Agbogu noted the resounding success achieved through positive vendor testimonials, the implementation of the Sanwo-Naira as the main currency for transactions, and the inclusion of the Lagos Corner, which provided small businesses with limited resources the opportunity to participate for free.
