Lagos State Unveils Youth Engagement Task Force
Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development has launched a Technical Working Group on Youth Engagement to enhance coordination and synergy in youth initiatives.
Speaking at the inauguration held at Bungalow Hall, Ikeja, Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, emphasized that the Technical Working Group (TWG) is designed to offer technical expertise, guidance, and support for the Ministry’s youth programs.
He noted, “The primary goal is to enhance the effectiveness and impact of youth development initiatives through informed decision-making, innovative solutions, and collaborative efforts.”
Ogunlende encouraged the TWG members to bring their best to the table, stressing that the group’s role is crucial in consolidating the Ministry’s achievements in youth development and addressing emerging challenges through strategic collaboration.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Pharm. (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, highlighted that the TWG would help the Ministry infuse best practices into youth programs.

She stated, “About 70% of the population of Lagos State consists of youth. This makes their engagement a matter of priority for the Ministry.
In doing this better, we have decided to inaugurate the Technical Working Group to ensure not just all hands on deck but the most capable from different fields that can contribute meaningfully to the implementation of the Youth Policy and programmes.
There are a whole lot of issues within this space ranging from drug abuse to restiveness among the youths that we need to tackle headlong.”
The TWG, chaired by Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, with Mr. Femi Balogun, Director of Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning at Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA), as Co-Chair, and Pharm. (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu as Secretary, is composed of experts from diverse fields.
Their three-year mandate includes providing technical support, developing policies and programs, capacity building, monitoring and evaluation, strategic planning, and fostering innovation and research in youth development.
