Lagos State Youth Parliament, Epe Constituency 1, Celebrates Epe Girls Explorer Space

Ekohotblog reports that the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, in collaboration with the Lagos State Youth Parliament, Epe Constituency 1, celebrated the Epe Girls Explorer Space initiative, which was aimed at empowering young girls in the community.

 

The event focused on motivating girls to pursue their passions while emphasizing the importance of education.

 

Speaking at the event, Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun, Chairman of Epe Local Government, encouraged the girls to focus on how to discover their true interests and not just follow the crowd.

 

She advised them to pursue what they are passionate about and remain committed to their education as a foundation for success.

 

“It’s important for each of you to find what you truly love and not just do things because your friends are doing them.

 

You must take your education serious, but also try to find your strength and develop your passion,” she said.

 

Hon. Animashaun also urged parents to be supportive of their daughters, stressing the important role of the girl child in building the future of the community and the nation.

 

“Parents need to study their children, especially the girl child, and encourage their talents.

 

Girl child is a builder, and we must be supportive to them at all cost, they need to grow into individuals who will contribute positively to the community and the country at large,” she added.

 

The chairman also gave room for interactions between herself and the girls, the girls asked her questions about her achievement and progress as a Female local government chairman.

 

“What motivated you to run for this position as a woman? One of the girls asked’ ,Hon. Animashaun replied, ‘I’ve always been passionate about serving my community even before I became the chairman, and I wanted to show that women can lead just as effectively.
It’s not about gender, but about the will to make a difference.’

 

Another girl asked, ‘Ma, what has been your greatest achievement since you assumed office?

 

‘ In her response, Hon. Surah Animashaun smiled and said, ‘My greatest achievement is seeing the development of Epe and the empowerment of young people like you. It’s been a challenging but fulfilling journey.’
