On Tuesday, passengers aboard a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus in Orile, Lagos State, were attacked and robbed by street thugs.

Dare Abiola, one of the victims, recounted to The Nation that the assailants, posing as protesters against the task force’s seizure of motorcycles, attacked the bus around 1 p.m. and stole passengers’ valuables.

Abiola expressed frustration, stating that his money and other possessions were taken during the incident. The attack lasted approximately 20 to 30 minutes without any intervention from security forces.

He described the events: “I boarded a BRT bus from Mile 2 to CMS. At the Odunade bus stop, we saw a crowd gathering and marching towards the Orile bus stop.

We heard they were heading to the Orile police station to confront officers who had recently raided motorcyclists in the Odunade-Coker area.

“As the crowd grew, by the time we reached the Alafia bus stop near the NNPC fuel station, some individuals began smashing the bus’s windshield and windows. They stole my bag and phone, threatening to stab me with a Trophy bottle if I resisted.”

EKO HOT BLOG gathered that Abiola later went to the Orile police station to report the incident. Meanwhile, police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin mentioned that he had not yet received detailed information about the incident.
