Lagos Taskforce Arrests 15 Suspects, Recovers Hard Drugs in Agege Clean-Up Raid

In an effort to sustain the ongoing enforcement operation aimed at cleansing Lagos State of criminal activities and environmental nuisances, the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit, popularly known as the Taskforce, on Monday, 12th May 2025, carried out a targeted raid in the Agege area.

Ekohotblog reports that the operation, which commenced around 6:00 p.m., focused on flashpoints within Isale-Oja and the AP Roundabout in Agege, where officials identified the presence of individuals suspected to be involved in illegal and harmful activities.

During the raid, 15 male suspects were apprehended, and a variety of substances suspected to be hard drugs were recovered from the scene. The seized items are believed to include marijuana and other illegal narcotics.

Speaking on the operation, the Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele said, “We are committed to a cleaner, safer Lagos.

This operation is part of our zero-tolerance stance against drug peddling and criminal hideouts. We will not allow our communities to become havens for criminal elements.”

He added that the suspects will be thoroughly investigated and charged to court accordingly to face the full wrath of the law.

Residents of the affected areas have expressed support for the Taskforce’s intervention, noting the rising concerns about safety and the influence of drug use in the community.

A trader at Isale-Oja, who preferred anonymity, said, “We have been worried about the strange faces and activities around here, especially at night. We’re thankful to the government for stepping in. We want peace in this area.”
