Lagos Taskforce Cracks Down On Illegal Dealers

Published

on

Lagos State Task Force has launched a comprehensive operation to eradicate the scourge of roadside vendors and shanties along the notorious Mile 2-Oke stretch on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway.

This decisive action is part of the Agency’s chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele’s, strategic plan to safeguard the environment and align with the state government’s THEMES Plus Agenda.

The area had become a hotbed of illegal activities, with vendors and shanties causing traffic congestion, fueling robberies, and polluting the environment.

The shanties had also become a haven for criminal activities, putting lives and properties at risk.

The Task Force, acting on the state government’s and CP Adegoke Fayoade’s directives, has dismantled the illegal structures and cleared the area of vendors selling goods by the roadside.

The chairman revealed that these vendors were also involved in illegal petroleum trade, posing a significant fire hazard and explosion risk.

“We seized over 2000 liters of petroleum products, and we won’t tolerate such dangerous practices that endanger lives,” he emphasized.

The operation is a testament to the Agency’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.

The chairman assured that the Task Force will continue to monitor the area to prevent the resurgence of illegal activities and ensure smooth transportation.

Residents and business owners are urged to cooperate with the authorities and adhere to environmental laws to maintain the area’s safety and serenity.

Four suspects were arrested, and several items were confiscated during the raid. The suspects will be charged to court, and the confiscated items will be forfeited to the state government.”
