Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture has teamed up with Sterling Bank to host the 2024 World Tourism Day, centered around the theme “Tourism and Peace.”
This collaboration seeks to highlight tourism’s power in promoting global peace, unity, and cultural exchange.
Speaking on the event, Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, stressed the importance of tourism in bridging divides and fostering a peaceful coexistence through shared experiences and mutual understanding.
“This year, we are proud to partner with Sterling Bank to celebrate this significant occasion and advance our vision of peaceful and inclusive tourism,” said Benson-Awoyinka.

Scheduled for September 27, 2024, at Muri Okunola Park, the celebration promises a lively mix of panel discussions, cultural showcases, and vendor exhibitions.
Attendees will engage with industry experts in thought-provoking discussions on tourism’s role in peace-building and economic development.
“Our partnership with Sterling Bank emanates given the long-term commitment of the bank to sustainable development, and its support for initiatives that leverage tourism’s potential to create peaceful and prosperous communities,” added the Commissioner.
The event will also feature traditional music performances and an array of local vendor stalls, offering attendees a taste of Lagos’ rich cultural diversity.
