The Lagos State Government has urged homeowners in its housing estates who bought their properties in 2019 or earlier to apply for their Deed of Sub-Lease if they have not done so already.

Represented by the Director of the Estate Department, Mrs. Olukemi Fosudo, Toriola explained that the Deed of Sub Lease is a key legal document issued by the state. It confirms ownership and can be used in financial dealings such as securing a mortgage or using the property as collateral.

He clarified that the Deed of Sub-Lease is different from the Letter of Confirmation. The Letter of Confirmation is only given after the homeowner has accepted the terms in the Letter of Offer and completed full payment.
Toriola advised homeowners who have not yet received these documents, or who have not finished their payments, to visit the Estate Department at the Ministry of Housing in Alausa to check their status.
He also encouraged residents to follow estate rules, live peacefully, and support the state’s goal of providing affordable and lasting housing.
He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to making homeownership easier through clear and efficient procedures.
