The Director-General, Lagos State Safety Commission, Lanre Mojola, who spoke on Wednesday during the training held at the Lagos State Technical College, Agidingbi, Ikeja, said the participants should count themselves lucky to have been selected

Mojola, who was represented by the Technical Adviser to the Commission, Seun Awojobi, said the training was a comprehensive safety training.

He said the trainees would be inducted as Occupational Safety Marshals to oversee the safety of students, teachers, equipment, tools, machines, visitors and stakeholders.

The DG added that both the commission and the Lagos State Technical and Education Board (LASTVEB) had been in collaboration since 2013, when the commission carried out safety sensitization and advocacy in all five technical colleges, including LASTVEB headquarters

He added that another safety risk assessment of all the technically college buildings, equipment, tools and machineries were also carried out.

The Lagos State Bureau of Statistics in 2021 conducted safety surveys in Lagos State Technical Colleges and Vocational schools, the outcome of the survey therefore was meant to add value to the safety, planning, programming as well as entrench safety culture and practices across the colleges,” he explained.

Mojola disclosed that at the end of the one-day training programme, participants would be evaluated with multiple choice objective questions.
