Lagos Urges Cinemas To Maintain Safe, Conducive Viewing Halls

The Executive Secretary of Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board, Mr. Bamidele Balogun, has urged Cinemas in Lagos to ensure and maintain a safe, conducive and standard viewing halls for film lovers and viewers across the State.

He stated this during a working visit to some of the Cinemas, emphasizing that it has become imperative for the State Government to ensure that cinema operators put in place adequate safety measures to protect the lives of movie-goers.

He said further that the Nigerian Film Industry, particularly those operating in Lagos, needed to rank at par with their international counterparts by conforming to set rules and regulations.

According to him, some of the safety measures which must be in place include functional fire extinguishers, fire stands, functional air conditioners to prevent suffocation, at least one entrance and one exit in every hall, among others.

He added that LSFVCB has registered and licensed 16 cinemas currently operating within the State and ready to license more that meet registration requirements.

The Executive Secretary noted the Agency would continue to pay unscheduled working visits to cinemas to ensure that standards are not compromised.
