Lagos Urges Healthcare Workers To Embrace Diligence

  • Lagos State Health Service Commission (LSHSC) has urged healthcare workers to embrace diligence that exudes professionalism in carrying out statutory duties and responsibilities.
  • The Chairman of LSHSC, Dr. Muyibat Onayiga, charged participants on the need to give value to the capacity-building initiative.

The Chairman, Lagos State Health Service Commission (LSHSC), Dr. Muyibat Atinuke Onayiga, has urged healthcare workers to embrace diligence that exudes professionalism in carrying out statutory duties and responsibilities.

Onayiga gave the charge while speaking at the commencement of the Y2021 first batch training for personnel across Public Hospitals in Lagos State, an event held at the Commission’s Training Centre, Island Maternity.

Onayiga charged participants on the need to give value to the capacity-building initiative.

She said, “In normal parlance, it is ‘happy new year’, at the commencement of every year. However, considering the holistic approach to ensure enhanced productivity amongst healthcare workers, I would say ‘happy new you’.”

While reiterating the pertinence of a newer progressive culture, the Chairman said it is not good enough for the participants to attend the programme without understanding the deeper meaning of the training, saying “participants must imbibe the correct way of doing things for better productivity. This becomes paramount and a positive change towards uplifting practices expected of you”.

In his remarks, the Commission’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Benjamin Eniayewun stated that the initiative was part of the targeted training of 2,200 Healthcare Personnel which kicked-off in November 2020, but was truncated by the COVID -19 protocols and the need to curb the spread of the pandemic.

“This is the first batch in Y2021 on the initiative which was kick-started in November 2020. It is aimed at getting core professionals acquainted with entrepreneurial values towards qualitative delivery. Thus, I urge you all, to have an interactive learning session for enhanced productivity within the health sector of Lagos State,” he said.

The three-day training had participants from various Public Hospitals being educated on Managerial/Leadership proficiency towards optimal productivity amongst healthcare workers.
