Lagos Wahala! : Landlady Lands in Legal Trouble For Tampering Tenants Electricity Supply

In Lagos State, a 52-year-old landlady, Princess Adejana, has found herself in legal trouble following allegations of disconnecting electricity supply to two of her tenants, Mr. Isa Oyetunji and Mrs. Idowu Sanusi.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the dispute was over an undisclosed matter, resulted in the landlady’s arrest and subsequent charges of conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and unlawfully tampering with electricity installations.

The incident occurred at Shitu Thompson Street in the Iju Ishaga area of Lagos, where Adejana allegedly engaged the services of an electrician to disconnect the electricity supply to the tenants in question.

Upon receiving reports of the incident, the Police at Area G Command in Ogba, Lagos, arrested the landlady and detained her for interrogation regarding her conduct.

After thorough questioning, the Police found Princess Adejana culpable and consequently charged her before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offenses.

During the court hearing she eaded not guilty , however the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, requested that the Court set a date for the hearing. This would allow the Police an opportunity to present evidence supporting their allegations against the landlady.

In response to the defendant’s plea, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Of. Kasanu, granted Princess Adejana bail with specific conditions.

The bail requirements included two sureties who must provide evidence of their means of livelihood and show proof of tax payment.

Additionally, the addresses of the sureties will be verified by the Court to ensure their validity.

The case has been adjourned for mention, and Princess Adejana has been remanded in custody at the correctional center in Kirikiri town, Lagos.

She will remain there until she meets the bail conditions set by the Court.
