This news medium gathered that the PHWC toured the LWC facilities for five days.
The study tour started with the LWC Departmental Activities presentation, which the PHWC representatives described as awesome and convincing.
The delegates were introduced to the projects executed by the Lagos-based agency since its inception and in recent years.
The Head, Monitoring and Evaluation Unit of the LWC, Engr. Titilola Bright-Oridami, who made the presentation, broke down the different parts of water provision to explain the processes involved in water production, Customer and Employee Management, and revenue generation.
The presentation also touched on the challenges and opportunities that the corporation has encountered in the course of fulfilling its mandate.
She stated that many opportunities, such as investments and policy reviews, when considered and maximised, would lead to unprecedented growth in the water sector.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the next two days in the study-tour were dedicated to a thorough scrutinisation of the duties carried out by key departments.
The LWC allowed the visiting PHWC team to closely examine how the departments at the Lagos-based water agency carry out the duties that contribute to the daily effectiveness of the organisation. Each department head gave data-driven reports that were contained in PowerPoint slides, and questions were entertained from the Port Harcourt team.
The fourth day of the tour saw the PHWC delegation make a field trip to the Lekki Waterworks, where they saw firsthand, how groundwater extracts are treated and sent to the final consumer. They also got to see the different water tanks that are used in production.
The study visit ended on the fifth day with the touring team expressing deep contentment with the way the programme turned out.
The leader of the PHWC delegation, Engr. Soni Elisha, stated that the visit had provided his team with an opportunity to learn and share knowledge with other experts.
He expressed his certainty that the partnership that had resulted from this visit would contribute greatly to repositioning the water sector for bigger exploits.
The PHWC noted that it chose to tour the LWC, instead of a foreign organisation, because it believed that the Lagos-based corporation had what it wanted.
“The chosen of LWC for the study tour was borne out of the need to get what we wanted,” Rivers State-based water corporation said.
“Yes, we might necessarily go for the ‘Oyinbos’, but opted for the LWC, because we know we can get what we wanted here.”
The PHWC delegation leader also stated that his team was leaving the study tour satisfied after getting more than they what they bargained for.
“We got more than what we bargained for,” he said.
Speaking at the final meeting, the MD/CEO of the LWC, Engr. Muminu Badmus, said he was optimistic that the study tour would produce favourable outcomes.
“This is an innovative and creative way for building networks for sustainable development. This is the way strategic partnerships are made, and some of the experiences gained during the visit have brought to fore the possibilities that are abundant in the water sector,” the LWC Public Affairs Unit quoted him as saying in a statement.
The PHWC is not the first company to visit the LWC to have a first-hand understanding of the corporation’s operations.
