Lagos Water Corporation joins Forces with USAID/LUWASH for Water Quality Improvement Training
In line with its ongoing commitment to improving the quality of water services in Lagos, the Lagos Water Corporation (LWC), led by Managing Director Engr. Mukhtaar Temitope Tijani, MNSE, FNIEE, recently participated in a 2-day workshop on Water Quality Control and Compliance.
This initiative aims to enhance the capacity of the Corporation’s workforce in managing and ensuring the supply of potable water to over 22 million residents across the state.
The training, organized by USAID/LUWASH, took place from November 13th to 14th, 2024, at the Sojourner by Genesis, Patricia Hall, Oba Akinjobi GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.
It was part of a collaborative effort between LWC, the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LASWAMO), and the Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LASWARCO).
The workshop was designed to strengthen the ability of staff to improve water quality control practices and contribute to better public health outcomes.
Key topics covered included Water Quality Management, Surveillance and Monitoring from Source to Tap, Water Quality Incident Management and Response, Water Treatment Processes, Water Quality Parameters, Standards, and the Water Quality Index.
Distinguished LWC participants included Engr. Ogunlewe Bolaji, Director (Distribution & Network), Engr. Agiri Mustapha, Director (Production), Mrs. ‘Peju Isola, Divisional Director (Commercial, Customers, and Community Relations), Mr. Tola Fadare, Director (Complaints & Quality Management), and Mrs. Taiwo Azeez, Director (Customers Relations).
Also in attendance were staff members from various departments including H(RBOs West, South & East), C&QM, Distribution, Production, and HR.
Earlier, the Corporate Affairs and Brand Management unit of LWC reported that the Lagos State Government has secured a five-year grant from USAID aimed at rehabilitating water infrastructure in the state.
This grant is designed to enhance water availability, reduce disruptions, and improve sanitation services for Lagos residents.
