Eko Hot Blog reports that the Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Special duties and intergovernmental relations, Mr Ogundeko Sesan Tunde has assured that Lagos state will continue to lead in governance in Nigeria.
He said this during an awareness call for the maiden edition of the Lagos State fire Conference scheduled for 25th to 27th of June, 2024 at Balmoral Convention Centre at Victoria Island, Lagos.
Ogundeko who described the state as a smart and mega city, said it was important for every resident of the state be in attendance, to know the causes that leads to fire outbreak and how to manage the occurrences.
Highlighting on the importance of the conference, the permanent secretary through a video clip made available to Eko Hot Blog mentioned that “over 82 lives and property worth over 25 billion were lost to fire related issues in the state in 2023.”

“As a smart and fast-growing mega city, Lagos will continue to lead in setting the pace for progressive governance,” he added.
Ogundeko, therefore called on the residents of Lagos to ensure attendance at the event tagged “Stakeholders Collaboration: A Panacea to Incessant Fire Disasters in Lagos.”
Also, the Director for Lagos Fire and Rescue Services, Mrs Adeseye Magaret, said, “Fire safety is a critical issue that affects all of us, and it’s crucial that we come together and discuss.”
