EKO HOT BLOG reports that the incident was confirmed by the spokesperson for the Kebbi Police Command, SP Nafiu Abubakar, in a statement issued on Saturday from Birnin Kebbi.
According to Abubakar, “On January 3, at approximately 1:00 AM, armed criminals believed to be Lakurawa bandits, riding motorcycles, attacked Alhaji Lawal Black Farm and nearby Fulani settlements in Natseni village, along the Argungu/Kangiwa road, and rustled an unspecified number of cows.”

“Upon receiving the report, a police team from the Safer Highway patrol quickly responded, engaging the bandits in a gun battle. The team pursued the attackers, forcing them to retreat into the forest with gunshot wounds while successfully recovering some of the stolen cattle.”
“Sadly, two police officers lost their lives during the encounter,” Abubakar added.
The Commissioner of Police in Kebbi, Bello Sani, condemned the attack, offering condolences for the loss of the officers and praying for their souls to rest in peace. He also extended support to the families of the fallen officers.
“The Commissioner of Police conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the scene and then visited the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu-Mera, to offer his condolences and brief him on the ongoing efforts of security agencies to combat crime in the region,” Abubakar concluded.
