LAMATA Suspends Activities Of BRT Team On Eko Bridge
Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has announced the suspension of the BRT Monitoring Enforcement Team on the Eko Bridge.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the suspension of the monitoring team activities is due to the partial closure of the Eko Bridge due to the ongoing rehabilitation work.

LAMATA made this known in a statement highlighting that the suspension of the operation of the dedicated Security Team, known as the BRT Monitoring Enforcement Team will enhance the movement of vehicles pending when the rehabilitation work would be completed.
As an agency responsible for transport planning, implementing, regulatory and franchising authority poised to deliver a world-class intermodal integrated transport system, LAMATA said all activities relating to monitoring and enforcement are suspended.
“Following the partial closure of the Eko Bridge due to the ongoing rehabilitation work, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has suspended the operation of its dedicated Security Team on Transport Infrastructure on the Bridge.”
“… the suspension of the operation of the dedicated Security Team, known as the BRT Monitoring Enforcement Team, was to enhance vehicular movement on the Bridge during the ongoing construction period.”
“The release informed the motoring public that pending the completion of the ongoing rehabilitation work on Eko Bridge; all activities relating to the monitoring and enforcement exercise by the team are suspended until further notice.”
Eko Bridge, built in 1975, is one of the three bridges connecting Lagos Island to the mainland.

Recall that the traffic was diverted on Eko Bridge to allow rehabilitation work following a fire incident that occurred in the early hours of Friday, November 4, 2022, where some parts of the bridge were damaged.
