Land Grabbers Invade Epe Division, Cause Chaos, Monarch Cries Out

Epe (Lagos State) High Chief Suwaliyu Muritala, the Baale of Imokun community in Eredo local council development area, in Epe Division, has called on the Lagos state government to put an end to the unwanted menace caused by land grabbers across the city.
Muritala made the plea while addressing newsmen on Wednesday, in Epe, Lagos state.
He said that the chaos inflicted by this land grabbers, popularly called “Ajagun gbale” is becoming unbearable and inhuman.
He narrated his ordeal faced by the land grabbers recently when they invaded the community and destroyed properties, chase away the original landowners on their land while working.
“This is becoming intolerable and barbaric. The government should come to our aid and put a stop to this turmoil caused by the land grabbers in this community.

“The people in the neighbourhood don’t sleep with their two eyes closed because of this land grabbers evil act that they carried out both in the day and night.
“If this issue is not addressed on time, it might lead to violence between the community youths and the land grabbers which I do not want it to happen.
“The government should be proactive in handling this circumstance, ” he said.
Also, Mr Tunde Adedeji, a youth leader in Eredo community, urged Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to mediate into this problem as a matter of necessity.
He said that Lagos state was freed from the ungodly act of land grabbers during the past administration led by Akinwunmi Ambode.
“But in the recent time, the land grabbers have reinforced into the city again to start disturbing people on their land, causing unrest.
“This issue needs to be addressed by the government as a matter of urgency because there is no place in the constitution/Nigeria laws that supported the operation of land grabbers.
“There problem is becoming too much, they have begun to initiate our youth into several vices and all, If this persists, then, the youth will put law into there hands and fight back.
“We do not want violence in our community that is why we are calling on the government to intervene into the matter, ” he said.
Earlier, Mr Ibrahim Adeola, a member of surveyors association of Epe Division, said that the crisis caused by the land grabbers recently in the community as cost the association a lot of money in settling dispute.
He said that several millions and properties have been injected into solving the dilemma caused by the land grabbers in the community.
Adeola mentioned the communities where the land grabbers have invaded, which include; Imokun, Eredo, Epe central, Ikosi-Ejirin, Agbowa, Ibeju lekki, among several others.
He said that several petitions have been written to Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Divisional Police Station in Noforija and Epe, Traditional rulers in Epe Division, Nigerian Army, Community leaders, Politicians and Department of State Security, all to no avail.
Adeola, therefore, called on Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the authorities concerned to intervene into this land grabbers matters in Lagos state as a matter of urgency before it goes out of hands.
