The disturbing incident, which took place on May 8, 2024, around 12:05 pm, has prompted the Ogun State Police Command to launch a manhunt for the couple.
According to a police source, the tenant, known as Iya Ibukun, had been knocked down by a hit-and-run driver on May 5, 2024.
Tragically, the tenant resorted to self-medication due to concerns about medical expenses, ultimately leading to her demise a few days after the accident.
Shockingly, the landlady and her husband allegedly conspired to remove the corpse from the apartment and dump it in a canal nearby.
“There was an accident; a hit-and-run driver allegedly knocked the tenant down. She didn’t go to the hospital and started treating herself at home. She died a few days after the incident. The landlady and her husband conspired to dump the body in a canal,” the police source revealed.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and stated that efforts are underway to recover the body from the canal.
