Eko Hot Blog reports that tensions are rising between Landmark Africa and the government over the ambitious Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project.
In a statement released on Thursday, the organization revealed that it has been kept in the dark regarding plans that could significantly impact its beachfront property.

“To date, Landmark has never been officially consulted on the coastal highway alignment, nor have we been engaged in discussions regarding the environmental impact assessment of the project on Landmark,” stated Elsie Ogianyo, the organization’s spokesperson.
The accelerated sand filling operations along Landmark’s shoreline have sent shockwaves through the business community. “The accelerated sand filling on the Landmark shoreline has sent widespread panic and fear to the independent businesses, suppliers, employees, investors, financiers and clients that all conduct business within the Landmark Ecosystem,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, at the Landmark Beach Resort in Oniru, Lagos, sand-filling activities have commenced amid the coastal highway developments, despite the Lagos State Government recently issuing a demolition notice for the resort.
A video posted on Landmark Africa’s official X (formerly Twitter) account showed earthmoving equipment actively depositing sand over significant sections of the beach, including areas near the popular Hard Rock Café.
