Barely 24 hours after Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared gubernatorial and House of Assembly election results in Lagos, State Signage and Advertisement Agency, LASAA, yesterday began removal of campaign posters and banners across the state.

The clean-up exercise with deployment of LASAA personnels’ to Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja.

At the Secretariat, it was learned that officials removed the campaign banner of the Governor-elect, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress, APC and that of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate, Jimi Agbaje.

Besides, the agency did not spare the campaign flags of the candidates that were already placed at different locations within the secretariat. The agency had mapped out strategy to ensure that none of the streets in the state was spared during the ongoing clean-up exercise.

Confirming the ongoing clean-up exercise, Head of Public Affairs, LASAA, Temitope Akande, said the elections were over and the state must be reclaimed, saying this was why the Managing Director /CEO, Mr. Mobolaji Sanusi, led the enforcement.

On the ongoing campaign, tagged “Take our City Back”, Akande disclosed that thousands of posters and banners were deployed illegally across the state by the political parties before the elections.

He said: “It is part of our effort to take the city back after the political season. We are removing the electoral materials that have been used to deface the state. We will remove all materials that were used during the just concluded election.

“We cannot state categorically the number of posters deployed during the season, but we know that the state has been heavily populated by illegal posters. And about 80 percent of them are illegally deployed during the season.”

Akande noted that due to the huge posters and banners deployed by the political parties, it would take the agency at least one month before all posters and banners could be removed.
