The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has recovered a total sum of N18,886,754 as refund and compensation for consumers.
The money was recovered for consumers who sought the support of the Agency to get redress from infringements on their rights by retailers and traders of various consumables.

According to the General Manager of the Agency, Mrs. Kemi Olugbode, LASCOPA receives complaints daily from aggrieved consumers seeking redress from various unfair trade practices in the State.
She noted that 87.1 per cent of the total complaints received by the Agency from consumers have been amicably resolved; 9.4 per cent are receiving attention; 1.5 per cent awaiting court judgement and two per cent were dropped for lack of merit.
Olugbode revealed that complaints were received from various sectors of the economy including Transportation, Banking and Finance, Food and Beverages, Insurance, E-Commerce, Telecommunications and Property.
Others areas are Electricity Distribution Companies, Confectioneries, Manufacturing, Automobiles, Pharmaceuticals, Chemical and Agro-Allied Companies etc.
While urging consumers to take advantage of the Agency to seek redress whenever there is an infringement on their rights free of charge, she said complaints should be forwarded online through the Agency’s e-mail addresses, lascopa@lagosstate.gov.ng or lascopa@gmail.com.

She requested that all complaints should be accompanied with relevant documents attached, adding that complainants could also visit LASCOPA’s office at 2B, Soji Adegbepa Close, off Allen Avenue, Ikeja – Lagos.
