LASEMA Releases Details Of Accident Involving Container In Lagos

LASEMA has released the details of the multiple accident involving a container that fell on vehicles.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed the death of a driver in a multiple accident at Cele Bus Stop, Lagos, on Thursday.

A truck conveying twin 20ft containers had lost control and dropped the containers on three vehicles; a Volkswagen bus, a Highlander SUV, and a Toyota RAV4.

In a statement issued late Thursday night, the Director General of LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, disclosed that the bus driver died, while four were injured.

He revealed that the remains of the deceased have handed over to his family.

“On arrival of the Agency’s LRT at the scene, it was discovered that a multiple accident involving a MACK truck with unknown registration number conveying twin 20ft containers, a Volkswagen bus with registration number AKD 489XZ, a Highlander SUV with registration number AGL 366FP and a Toyota RAV4 with registration number AAA 353FH was encountered at the above mentioned location.,” the statement reads.

“Further information gathered at the scene revealed that the truck driver lost control due to mechanical fault (brake failure) while at top speed, before ramming into the vehicles ahead of it.

“Unfortunately an adult male (bus driver) lost his life to the incident while the injured victims (4) four in number (3) Three males (1) one female were transported to hospital for further medical attention after being attended to by the Agency’s Paramedics.

“The Agency’s LRT, FRSC, Agency’s Paramedics and NPF were the responders present at the scene.

“Recovery operation was put on hold as the atmosphere was charged with street urchins attacking people at the scene.

“However, the remains of the deceased were bagged and handed over to the relatives.
