The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has announced that it successfully contained a fire that broke out at the Ago Medical Centre, located off Ago Palace Way in Okota.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement released by LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the agency received distress calls on its 767/112 Emergency Toll-Free Lines at 18.29 hrs on Friday and promptly activated the state’s emergency response plan.

Upon arrival at the scene at 18.50 hrs, LASEMA’s Eagle Response Team discovered that sections of the storey building housing the hospital were engulfed in flames.

The swift action and effective coordination of emergency responders allowed the fire to be contained, preventing it from spreading to adjacent buildings in the area.
“Preliminary investigations conducted by LASEMA’s Eagle Response Team revealed that the immediate cause of the inferno was a power surge which led to a spark when public electricity power supply was restored,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.
