The Enforcement team of Lagos Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, on Sunday apprehended the parents of children who emptied bags of waste into the drainage channel during a torrential downpour in the week.
According to a series of tweets from the official Twitter handle of the Lagos State Government, “The parents of these children would be prosecuted according to the law. The act is in defiance to Governor Sanwo-Olu’s directive and pronouncement on zero tolerance to improper waste disposal.
“This attitude and several others that have gone unnoticed are contributory factors to flooding issue being experienced in some quarters across the State.
“The arrest of these individuals followed a video that revealed this misdemeanour on social media during the week.”
Lagosians are urged to be Government’s watch-dogs in this regard. Kindly report unfriendly attitudes to the State Government for proper action.
