Ogunyooye highlighted that addressing gender-based violence necessitates a multifaceted approach involving various stakeholders, from individuals and communities to institutions and governments. Adopting global best practices and strategies will be crucial in effectively tackling this issue.
Emphasizing the importance of protecting children for a secure future, Ogunyooye called for collective efforts to eliminate violence from society.

Alarmingly, the 2014 National Survey on Violence Against Children in Nigeria revealed that 25% of girls experience s£xual violence before turning 18, with 15% of those victims becoming pregnant.
Ogunyooye expressed concern about such violence frequently occurring in ostensibly safe spaces like schools and homes, leading to the normalization of violence against children.
With the theme “Being a Girl Shouldn’t Be a Risk,” this year’s AXA Week for Good focuses on raising awareness about the impact of s£xual and domestic violence on the girl child.
The Executive Secretary of the Domestic and S£xual Violence Agency (DSVA), Mrs Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi praised the partnership as a significant stride in tackling domestic and s£xual violence against girls in Lagos State.
Vivour-Adeniyi underscored the importance of private sector alliances in supporting the Lagos State Government’s zero-tolerance stance on s£xual and gender-based violence.
Reaffirming DSVA’s dedication to offering expert guidance and resources, Vivour-Adeniyi ensured that initiatives under AXA Week for Good would have a substantial impact, ultimately contributing to a safer and more inclusive society for all.
