The Lagos State Government has disclosed that the Alimosho Model City Development Plan, which was prepared in 2010, has expired in 2020.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the state Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr Idris Salako, stated this, according to a statement on Wednesday, during the inauguration of a technical committee to review the outdated Alimosho model plan in Alausa, Ikeja.

Salako, who was represented at the event by the Director of Technical Services, Bola Aliu, noted that periodic reviews were necessary for the operative development plans

He said, “The expired plan was one of the foremost development plans prepared in 2010 with a timeline of 10 years that lapsed in the year 2020. Therefore, the review would deliver a plan valid for the next 20 years and it would take cognisance of the geographical coverage, geometric population growth, and the physical challenges of Alimosho Local Government Area as well as contiguous localities.

“The attention of the consultants of Messrs Corporate Castles Limited had been drawn to the physical and environmental issues inherent in the area, including perennial flooding, wetland encroachment, indiscriminate waste disposal, and management as well as lack of open spaces for leisure.
