EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Permanent Secretary/Auditor-General for Local Governments, Mr. Obafemi Ogunlana, has reiterated the commitment of the State Government to organising more capacity-building programmes for Auditors in the Civil Service.
Ogunlana spoke during a three-day, in-house training organised for team members in core Audit Directorates of the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Governments, in collaboration with Bold Perception Integrated Resource Limited.
The Permanent Secretary stated that the capacity-building programme would focus on professional and generic modules to keep the auditors abreast of the processes and procedures of the new audit template.
His words: “It is expedient to further acclimatise auditors with the on-going restructuring introduced to understand the modus operandi of their roles in the transition process. The training is geared towards a clearer interpretation of the new Audit engagement template and its effective implementation in carrying out audit functions in Local Governments/Local Council Development Areas/Local Government Education Authorities and other Allied Agencies”.
“The capacity-building programme was also designed to focus on soft skill professional topics to keep Auditors abreast of the Public Service Rules, Work Ethics, Team Building/Bonding and work-life balance to enhance effective and efficient productive life”, he added.
The training programme exposed the participants to best practices in their different career paths while also acquainting them with the nitty-gritty of their job roles.
